DAVID ABBOTT graduated summa cum laude from Boston College Law School in 1996, where he served as an Editor of the Boston College Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Mr. Abbott received a Bachelor of Arts, with distinction, from McGill University in 1992.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Abbott served as a law clerk to Francis P. O’Connor, Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, from 1996 - 1997.
Mr. Abbott’s practice is principally focused on advising clients with respect to a wide range of real estate and land use issues, including the buying, selling, leasing and permitting of real estate, and in representing individuals, businesses and municipal boards in litigation concerning real estate. He also represents fiduciaries and others in contested probate matters. He has appeared before the Massachusetts District Court, Superior Court, Land Court, Appeals Court, Supreme Judicial Court, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Massachusetts, and before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. Mr. Abbott has also been appointed to serve as a hearing officer for the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers.
Mr. Abbott was named a ‘Rising Star’ in the May 2006 (Real Estate) and May 2007 (General Litigation) issues of Boston Magazine, which featured the results from the Massachusetts “Rising Stars” Super Lawyers polls. These attorneys are selected by ballot process conducted by Law & Politics who request all Massachusetts “Super Lawyers” to nominate the best up-and-coming attorneys “they’ve personally observed in action.”
Mr. Abbott lives in Boston with his wife and daughter.
